AI-powered support to reduce police paperwork

Ina Hanninger is CTO and co-founder of Anathem, which is developing AI solutions that transform public services. With a Master’s in Engineering Science from Oxford University specialising in Machine Learning, she transitioned from developing financial platforms at Goldman Sachs to founding Anathem, driven by her vision of technology for public good.

Police officers currently spend 60% of their time on paperwork instead of supporting victims, particularly in domestic violence cases. Anathem’s PolicePartner combines AI guidance and automated documentation to reduce case documentation time from 3 hours to 30 minutes. The solution began in NHS mental healthcare, where it successfully reduced clinician administrative burden, before expanding to support police officers in gathering better evidence and accelerating justice.

“I believe technology should be a force for both improved public outcomes and efficiency,” says Ina. “Through Anathem’s PolicePartner, we’re transforming every police interaction by automating administrative burdens and raising quality standards, allowing officers to focus on what matters most – gathering better evidence, accelerating justice, and protecting vulnerable lives.”

Her achievements include successful NHS implementations and expanding into policing with promising results. “I’m deeply honoured to receive this recognition at such a crucial time in Anathem’s development,” says Ina. “This award validates not just our technical innovation, but our mission to use technology to strengthen justice and protect vulnerable lives.”

“One of the biggest challenges I‘ve overcome was building the confidence and courage to leave my role at Goldman Sachs to found a startup,” Ina reflects. “What I’ve learned is that imposter syndrome can actually be a strength – it drives you to listen more, learn constantly, and validate your assumptions through real-world testing.”

Her advice to aspiring innovators? “Great innovation starts with deep curiosity and empathy. Spend time with your end users, ask thoughtful questions, and truly understand their challenges.”
