Building skills and suppliers for clean growth in Staffordshire

Staffordshire County Council is working with Keele University to connect residents and businesses with the skills and trusted green suppliers they need to take climate action, from heat pumps to home retrofit.

At the heart of the work is a roadmap that identifies Staffordshire’s priorities for clean growth and informs both a public directory of verified green suppliers and a skills taxonomy that helps training providers respond to local needs.

With longstanding challenges around skills gaps and supply chain fragility, this joined-up approach lays the groundwork for a stronger local economy that keeps more value in the county and benefits early from the transition.

It’s not just about hitting targets. This work is helping people feel more confident to invest in their homes, while creating a model other places can learn from.
