Medicines and medicines manufacturing are central to the UK’s ambition to remain a global leader in life sciences, while strengthening supply chain resilience, improving patient outcomes, embed sustainable practices and drive economic growth. Advances in manufacturing technologies, digitalisation, and process innovation are critical to enabling faster, more efficient, and more sustainable production of medicines.
The Future Medicines Café Series provides a platform to explore how innovation in medicines manufacturing can support better health outcomes, UK competitiveness, and a more resilient healthcare system through conversations with innovative companies working in this space.
We’re particularly interested in themes aligned with the UK’s Life Sciences Sector Plan priorities, including world-class research and development, scaling innovative life sciences companies in the UK, accelerating patient access to novel therapies and technologies, digital health and data-driven approaches, advanced manufacturing and showcasing collaborative models that have bridged science, healthcare and industry.
Want to stay ahead of the curve in new innovations within drug development and medicines manufacturing? Watch our recordings to connect with the people shaping medicines in the UK.
Each Café will feature a brief presentation from a business or innovator followed by an open Q&A, designed to be accessible and engaging for attendees from across the sector. Themes may cover emerging scientific advances, clinical translation, regulatory innovation, patient-centric technologies, and other innovation opportunities. Upcoming dates and topics will be announced soon, offering regular opportunities to connect with others shaping the future of medicines and health innovation.

Fuse has developed Flip, an innovative new class of simple-to-use tests able to bring laboratory quality information to any location in a fraction of the time of conventional methods. With their first test, for Mycoplasma contamination of cell culture, users in both research and manufacturing environments can identify this pervasive pathogen rapidly onsite with greater accuracy – enabling immediate action to preserve quality. The Fuse team will share insights of their unique approach to product innovation which led to the development of Flip, and explore future applications of their technology.
