Overview

Join Innovate UK Business Connect and partners to mark one year of the UK-Beyond Earth Network (UK-BEN) Microgravity Life Sciences Working Group and explore how microgravity and in-space environments are creating new opportunities for research, innovation and manufacturing

Microgravity offers a unique environment for discovery and innovation, with potential applications across life sciences, pharmaceuticals, advanced materials, semiconductors, manufacturing, platform technologies and in-orbit services.

As part of a quarterly series of webinars, this session will introduce the current landscape for microgravity-enabled R&D and in-space manufacturing, reflect on progress made through the working group to date, and help grow the UK community engaging with this emerging opportunity.

Why attend?

Microgravity is increasingly being explored as a novel environment for research, product development and future commercial applications.

This webinar will open up the opportunity for organisations that are curious about the field, while also connecting those already active across the UK microgravity and in-space manufacturing ecosystem.

Join this webinar to:

  • understand how microgravity enables opportunities in manufacturing and in-space R&D
  • hear from the Microgravity Life Sciences Working Group about their progress
  • learn from organisations working across space, research and commercial innovation
  • identify where you could contribute to, or benefit from, a growing cross-sector microgravity community in the UK

Who should attend?

This webinar is for anyone interested in how microgravity and in-space environments could support future R&D, innovation and manufacturing. It is suitable for organisations already active in the field, as well as those starting to explore whether microgravity could be relevant to their technology. You do not need to be part of the space sector to attend. The session will be particularly relevant to people working across industry, academia, research, innovation support and policy, including those in life sciences, health, pharmaceuticals, advanced materials, semiconductors, lab automation, platform technologies and in-orbit services.

What to expect

The session will include short presentations from Innovate UK Business Connect, partners involved in the Microgravity Life Sciences Working Group, and organisations developing technologies or services relevant to microgravity R&D and in-space manufacturing. This will be followed by an audience Q&A session.

Agenda and speakers to follow.

Purpose of this webinar

The Beyond Earth mission aims to capture high-value opportunities in the expanding in-space economy by positioning the UK as a global leader by 2035. The Microgravity in Life Sciences (MLS) Working Group sits within the UK-Beyond Earth Network (UK-BEN) and brings together researchers, industry leaders, and ecosystem partners to explore how microgravity can advance human health and biotechnology.

Through a series of webinars hosted by Innovate UK Business Connect and Satellite Applications Catapult, as well as via a dedicated B2Match Platform, we are raising awareness of microgravity solutions and enabling community engagement across different sectors that would help grow opportunities across the UK.
