The problem and opportunity

Much learning takes place outside the classroom, yet it often remains invisible within formal education systems. This can be particularly challenging for learners with special educational needs (SEN), who may engage more effectively through real-world activity, routine, movement and personal interests. As more families choose home education, there is growing demand for support in effective teaching and learning methods, particularly around building confidence in STEM subjects.

The solution and innovation

Learn Here Now connects everyday experiences with formal curriculum learning, helping families and educators recognise and build on learning as it happens in daily life — at home, in parks, on sports fields and in community settings. Our secure, AI and community-driven platform offers multiple ways to engage with and evidence learning, supporting learners who benefit from personalised, sensory, movement-based or interest-led approaches that traditional methods often miss.

Market and ambition

With our place-based approach we work through connecting parents and carers, cultural organisations and councils who all aim to support and evidence quality education for children, running live pilots across Manchester and now expanding to other regions.

Founder perspective

Dr Amanda Banks Gatenby is an educator with over a decade’s experience exploring how technology can safely and effectively improve learning outcomes. She founded Cohere Learning after seeing educational technology often reinforce existing problems rather than putting learning and learners’ needs first, and is driven to harness technology’s potential to transform engagement with learning.
