The problem and opportunity

Many clinical decisions depend on knowing how blood moves through tissue, yet perfusion is hard to assess routinely and objectively. Hospitals often rely on indirect signs, specialist interpretation or late indicators of deterioration. This affects patients, clinicians and health systems, including maternity care, where earlier insight into placental function could improve risk assessment.

The solution and innovation

Oxailis has developed a software-only AI platform that analyses 3D power Doppler ultrasound data to extract rapid, objective measures of tissue perfusion. Its first product, OxNNet Toolkit Placenta, is built on data from more than 7,500 pregnancies and processes scans in under five seconds. The technology is proprietary, IP-protected and designed to work with existing ultrasound systems.

Market and ambition

Our initial market is maternity care, working with hospitals, fetal medicine units and ultrasound manufacturers. Over the next 2-3 years, we aim to complete regulatory approval, validate the platform across major ultrasound vendors and establish Oxailis as a clinical AI platform for perfusion assessment.

Founder perspective
