Innovate UK is inviting ambitious innovative companies to participate in its Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP).
Each GBIP aims to help UK businesses grow and scale on a global stage through building R&D and innovation collaborations and partnerships and accelerating access to the market.
The programme consists of a Get ready preparation phase followed by a market visit to South by Southwest (SXSW), Austin to include a 5-day tailored programme to connect with businesses, research organisations, and other key stakeholders, followed by an Exploit the opportunity workshop.
The programme will provide a unique opportunity to find partners and identify opportunities for technology and innovation collaboration. Participants will benefit from bespoke support from an innovation and growth specialist to leverage the contacts, opportunities and knowledge gained and to support the growth journey of the business.
Only the named participant should attend the programme activities. Attendance by any other representative from your organisation is not permitted. Attendance at all workshops and programme activities is mandatory for selected businesses.
This GBIP is being delivered by Innovate UK.

Read an inspiring story from My SMASH Media who attended the SXSW GBIP in 2025.
Fiona Gillies, CEO at My SMASH Media, says: “Innovate UK’s Global Business Innovation Programme was an invaluable resource. It gave us direct access to key stakeholders in the US and helped us establish industry relationships that are already paying off. South by Southwest helped us get an insight into the US market and gain additional US users. We’re a small media tech start up but already 6% of our users are US-based, it’s going to be an important market for us, so it’s been useful to discuss strategy and marketing and has enabled us to focus on developing our business goals.”
Feedback from other UK businesses includes:
“This has been one of the most valuable business development experiences I have had. The GBIP team were professional, supportive and incredibly well-connected. I would strongly recommend this programme to any UK business looking to expand internationally. Thank you for an outstanding experience.” GBIP 2026 Delegate – SXSW, Austin, USA
“Going to SXSW was an absolutely extraordinary experience. To be taken there by Innovate UK gave us several important things – a very nice and convenient base from which to make the most of the week, instant credibility and access to experienced staff.” GBIP 2026 Delegate – SXSW, Austin, USA
“This GBIP was an incredible, game-changing experience for our business but also professionally; the opportunities it provided are invaluable. We are so grateful to have been chosen for the cohort. The in-market support from the GBIP team leaders was wonderful.” GBIP 2025 Delegate – SXSW, Austin, USA
