About the event
UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) expects to invest up to £18 million, subject to approvals, through a new grant funding competition delivered as part of the Missions Accelerator Programme.
Scaling Interoperable V2X competition is anticipated to launch later in 2026. This event is an opportunity to hear about the areas currently under consideration and provide feedback on how the competition can accelerate the scale-up of bidirectional V2X charging, helping to meet the UK’s energy flexibility targets by 2030.
V2X topics under consideration:
- interoperability and standardisation
- tackling grid connection challenges and market entry barriers
- improving cost parity
- unlocking promising V2X use cases that could increase flexibility capacity while reducing local emissions and improving resilience, affordability and equity across the energy system
The V2X Scale-up Accelerator sits within the Consumer Led Flexibility Challenge of the Clean Energy Superpower Mission, which aims to enable at least 2GW of additional flexibility on the system by 2030.
