Meet our new KTN Global Alliance Africa In-Country Leads
KTN Global Alliance Africa aims to build stronger UK-African and Pan-African knowledge and innovation partnerships that lead to mutual socio-economic benefits for African partner countries and the UK.
We are delighted for the opportunity to work with in-country leads for Kenya, Nigeria and South Africa which will enable us to collaborate further by building strategic partnerships and raising awareness with local organisations.
The KTN Global Alliance Africa project is a six-year project funded by UK Aid through Innovate UK (GCRF) and FCDO.
Sheilah Birgen, KTN Global Alliance Africa In-Country Lead for Kenya
Sheilah is an ecosystem builder, co-creation of policies enthusiast, Startups and SMEs growth enabler, community convener, innovation and Strategy Specialist. She has 12+ years of experience in entrepreneurship, innovation and technology in Africa.
She developed and executed mLab and iHub developer trainings, incubation and acceleration programmes for East African entrepreneurs, iHub Fellows, and mLab incubated startups and has mentored 1,000+ entrepreneurs across the continent. She was named by Root magazine among the top six black women in leading the charge to grow the technology sector across the African continent, holds an MBA in Global Business & Sustainability: Impact Entrepreneurship and Master’s Degree in Management.
Fredell Jacobs, KTN Global Alliance Africa In-Country Lead for South Africa
Fredell is passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation. His work in entrepreneurship capacity development covers development finance, private equity, philanthropy and academia. He enjoys the support of a diverse global network and has experience from assignments in many African countries, Latin America and South Korea.
Fredell is also an experienced entrepreneur with many startup failures under his belt which inspires his teaching and coaching interest. As a firm believer of life-long learning he appreciates collaboration and diversity.
He currently lives in South Africa and plays golf in his spare time.
Lamide Johnson, KTN Global Alliance Africa In-Country Lead for Nigeria
Lamide believes that innovation, technology and strategic partnerships leveraged by entrepreneurs are the fastest way to build economic prosperity in Africa.
He designs, develops and implements digital skills, entrepreneurship, policy and capacity building programmes for startups creating solutions for Africa’s urgent problems, that promote job creation and provides access for communities. His most recent position was as the interim Country Director for the UK-Nigeria Tech Hub. He is trained in Business and Entrepreneurship from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Illinois, USA; and he also has a Master of Business Administration degree.
When he is not designing business models or entrepreneurship programmes, he is telling stories for businesses – creating narratives that inspire communication with customers, employees, and investors; and helping entrepreneurs form a compelling narrative around the solution they are building.
