Open questionnaire: How can we protect open-source information?
There is a plethora of open-source information available that, both now and in the future, could pose a risk to UK security either competitively or operationally. How do we recognise the knowledge that has future value and should be protected?
Innovate UK KTN is working with Her Majesty’s Government (HMG) to capture your views on the matter via a short online survey to better understand what types of open-source information we should consider protecting in the future, as it may cause a threat to UK security.
The questionnaire should take approximately ten minutes to complete; we invite all interested parties to submit their response by 31 May 2022. The survey participants may be invited to attend a future workshop to discuss the points mentioned in more detail. Please note that cyber security is out of scope for this activity.
Who should complete the questionnaire?
We are particularly interested in receiving input from the following sectors:
- Emerging and Enabling
- Transport
- Infrastructure
- Complex Systems including Space, Geospatial, Mathematics, Security and Defence, Robotics and AI, Information Systems.
About the ASTRID Framework
The Analysis for Science and Technology Research in Defence (ASTRID) framework enables the UK government to quickly and efficiently place contracts for scientific and technical research and development. It covers analysis that supports the defence, security, safety and resilience of the UK, including its citizens, society and critical infrastructure.
This survey is part of Innovate UK KTN’s supporting activity under the Future Programme, part of the ASTRID framework. The programme ensures the UK is better prepared for the future through activity to identify potential, incubate and rapidly test hypotheses, and promote emerging insights of (beyond) generation-after-next science and technology.
