Innovate UK KTN Announces Jet Zero Council Commitments to Help Decarbonise the Aviation Industry
Innovate UK KTN is happy to announce that following the Jet Zero Council (JZC) meeting today at Farnborough International Airshow, and in line with 17 Council members, it has made the following pledges to the delivery of Jet Zero by:
- Launching and delivering a SAF Innovation Programme to build the UK SAF supply chain by: helping businesses access expertise, finance and customers; brokering new partnerships; creating an investor network; and conducting a SAF analysis to understand UK capability to develop a SAF industry.
- Continuing to deliver the JZC SAF and zero emission flight (ZEF) Delivery Groups through coordination and secretariat functions.
- Providing secretariat for the JZC CEO Steering Group.
- Actively championing the progress and activities of the JZC through Innovate UK KTN’s extensive industry and research networks.
Today’s announcement supports the work of the JZC, which met today to discuss the Jet Zero Strategy and sign a new JZC Members’ Charter. The Charter will ensure the Council remains at the forefront of delivering SAF and zero emission flight.
As a partnership between industry and government, the Jet Zero Council brings together ministers and chief executive officers, with the aim of delivering 10% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the UK fuel mix by 2030 and zero emission transatlantic flight within a generation.
Speaking on the pledges, Domain Leader for Net Zero at Innovate UK, and chair of the Innovate UK KTN Board, Mike Biddle, said: “Today is a milestone moment with the launch of the Jet Zero Strategy to reinforce the government’s commitment to decarbonising aviation. We are pleased to be able to pledge our support to the Government’s ambition and launch the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Innovation Programme.”
