The latest forensic innovations were on display this month at KTN’s 2017 Forensic Science Technology Showcase. This year, for the first time, KTN teamed up with the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences to bring together their Annual Conference with the Forensic Science Technology Showcase.
Exhibits showcasing new innovation from across the different forensic science disciplines and other technology areas were on display,  giving an opportunity for companies outside the sector to demonstrate their technology.  Innovations ranging from novel imaging systems to chemical sensing and data analysis, amongst others, were showcased from some of the industries leading names, including; Cyan Forensics, Eppendorf, Forenteq, Foster + Freeman, Innaxys, Key Forensic, and TechLong.
With over 60 delegates, the event allowed industry experts, police forces, government, and research organisations to come together to network, see the latest developments in the field and discuss their work with end users.
The variety of technology on display demonstrated the use of a wide range of enabling technologies from fields such as ICT and Photonics. Tech-Long demonstrated a range of laser and LED-based products, where developments in technologies have enabled scene of crime instruments to become smaller and more lightweight.
In the digital domain, KeyForensic, Cyan Forensics and Innaxys showed how powerful software techniques can dramatically speed up criminal investigations and enable strategic planning of resources.
