Innovate UK’s Women in Innovation Awards 2018
Following the success of the first competition, Innovate UK has announced they will be running a second round of Women in Innovation awards.
The competition will open for applications on the 30th July 2018.
Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, is looking for women who are rising stars in business innovation and who, with the support of an award, are likely to make a significant impact towards one of the Industrial Strategy Grand Challenges: AI and Data, Healthy Ageing, Clean Growth, Future of Mobility. A total of 8 awards will be offered, two awards in each of the four Industrial Strategy Grand Challenge areas. The winners will each receive a £50k grant and a bespoke package of mentoring, coaching and business support. Awards must start by end of March 2019 and will last for one year.
The competition is spilt into 2 phases:
- Phase 1 – external assessment
- Phase 2 – shortlisted applicants invited to interview by expert panel
This competition is open to female founders, co-founders or senior decision makers working in UK-based companies that have been operating for at least one year.

Women in Innovation Awards 2018 Briefing Event
Innovate UK and the Knowledge Transfer Network are hosting a briefing event for this competition.
