About the event
Innovate UK, in conjunction with Innovate UK KTN, is continuing its exciting series of events for 2023, different from anything you may have seen from the UK’s Innovation Agency before!
In this event Jonathan Mitchener, Innovate UK’s Futurist and Innovation Lead for Horizon Scanning, will run a dynamic session giving glimpses of a variety of possible technology-driven future scenarios and the impact a changing climate will have on what it is to be human.
This will be followed by a workshop in which you and your fellow industry leaders will discuss your thoughts on how these novel technologies and trends could affect industries, businesses and society in the coming decades. You will walk away with new foresight into potential opportunities and challenges for the future of your business.
The events are aimed at business leaders who have strategic responsibility for forward thinking and change, from all industry sectors of the economy.
Come and explore what the future may hold for you, your organisation, and your customers and suppliers, and help guide the future of UK innovation!
About the host
Jonathan Mitchener joined Innovate UK (then Technology Strategy Board) in August 2011, as Lead Technologist for Information and Communications Technology (ICT), to drive investment in research and innovation across UK companies.
A first-class honour graduate in Computer Science from the University of Hertfordshire in 1988, he undertook a wide range of roles in more than twenty years with BT including research, systems deployment, and technology and management consultancy, before becoming their futurologist.
Subsequently he ran his own independent futures consultancy business helping clients across all sectors understand the impacts of future disruptive change on their organisations. He has travelled extensively to speak to, inspire and provoke a range of audiences on technology topics, and has also written for many journals and magazines and appeared on radio and television. He uses his wide experience to help advise organisations on successful innovation, and currently leads on emerging technologies, horizon scanning, and the unique Analysis for Innovators programme at Innovate UK.
