Innovate UK KTN's Global Alliance Africa project recognised with an outstanding impact award for its transformative work in the agriculture sector in Kenya
The award, which was presented to Innovate UK KTN, Global Alliance Africa in Nairobi, recognises the project's success in promoting innovative agricultural productivity growth of farmers in Eldoret, Kenya through the introduction of innovative approaches.
The Global Alliance Africa project is a refreshing new approach harnessing the collective power of innovators in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and the UK, to drive positive change and create value. It is focused on building long-term partnerships connecting the innovation ecosystems of these four countries, so that innovation stakeholders can come together to share knowledge, learn from each other and work together.
This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the Global Alliance Africa team in Kenya for their contribution in the Agriculture sector, and we look forward to seeing the continued success of the project in the years to come,
– Calvin Jodisi, Founder and CEO of ASENTI Africa.
The project has already made a significant impact in Eldoret through the Place-Based Innovation (PBI) intervention by connecting ecosystem players to opportunities and networks in the UK, and bringing together various sector players to collaborate through the Eldoret Innovation Network Advisory Board (EINAB).
These are key players in academia, private and public business, most of which are Enterprise Support Organisations (ESO’s) supporting the agribusiness ecosystem in Eldoret – providing technical, financial, and capacity-building support to agri-SMEs at various stages of their growth. In addition, the project has helped to create new economic opportunities in the agriculture sector, contributing to the overall development of the country.
Innovate UK KTN’s Global Alliance Africa project is a prime example of the transformative power of innovation in the agriculture sector. By embracing new technologies and approaches, smallholder farmers in Kenya have been able to increase their productivity and profitability, helping to drive economic growth and development in the country.
The outstanding impact award is a testament to the contribution and dedication of the Innovate UK KTN team in supporting secondary cities in Kenya.
