Exploring our innovation community
Innovate UK recognises the pivotal role a diverse and inclusive innovation ecosystem can have in terms of economic impact and societal benefit. By taking steps to understand who our community of innovators is we can continue to inform our actions and those of others.
The ‘Who are the Innovators?’ summary report provides an insight into the diversity of Innovate UK applicants and beneficiaries, covering a historical seven-year period.
Turning insights into action
The report’s findings have been actively used in informing Innovate UK’s approach to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, highlighting important areas that require attention. This includes Innovate UK’s decision to collect EDI data directly from lead applicants to our competitions and to work with partners nationwide to launch platforms such as No Limits in spring 2024 and the Women in Innovation programme.
Looking to the future
Innovate UK is committed to using its insights to continue its leadership across EDI and innovation which includes addressing the issues. Innovate UK’s support must be relevant and accessible to all innovators, regardless of gender, ethnicity, or education. Our goal is to support access for all and the best ideas and businesses.
