About the event

This 90-minute webinar panel discussion, chaired by Cynthia Bullock, Deputy Direct for Healthy Lives at Innovate UK, will feature:

  • Stephen McPeake, CEO and Founder, Civic Dollars, a start-up business working to build healthier, more connected communities by incentivising participation in outdoor activities
  • Patrick Swain, Research and Development Manager, International Longevity Centre UK, specialist think tank on the impact of longevity on society
  • Graham DeAth, Co-founder, Ethos Partnership, innovation advocates for a new innovation model to address complex societal challenges using a whole-systems approach
  • Vic Rayner OBE, Chief Executive Officer, National Care Forum, representing not-for-profit care and support organisations across the UK

The innovation opportunity for preventative healthcare is huge, yet products, services and concepts that could improve health, fitness and quality of life struggle to find routes to adoption. Some of this challenge centres on the business model, but there is more besides.

‘Health and Care’ spans a vast spectrum from hospitals to everyday fitness and wellbeing, drawing in highly specialised professional medical teams. and educating all age groups to make the best choices for their own long-term wellbeing. A system that is fit-for-purpose should consider these aspects and understand that value is added by preventing, reducing or delaying demand on the increasingly complex management of illness. However the business model that dominates at present favours intervention at much later stages.

Why should you attend?

Our panel of speakers will provide several viewpoints, and our goal is to stimulate thinking from both entrepreneurs and the healthcare system about what can be done differently to encourage uptake of validated products and services. You will join an audience of potential collaborators and hear new thinking which may guide your own approach to your product / service innovation.

Following the discussion the floor will be opened for audience questions.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to gain actionable strategies and learn from the experts.
