Innovating and Collaborating to Reduce & Reuse African Fresh Produce Waste Webinar

In sub-Saharan Africa, up to 52% of the fruit and vegetables produced annually go to waste. In this webinar, you’ll hear from organisations with challenges around fresh produce waste, innovative solution providers and stakeholder partners all involved in fresh produce waste valorisation and the circular economy across the UK and Africa.

We will explore key food waste challenges, identify best practice circular economy initiatives and showcase innovations that can reduce or help reuse food waste.

You’ll hear from organisations who have challenges linked to fresh produce waste including Blue Skies and Wealmoor. They are looking for solutions to get more value from fruit waste including skins, seeds, and stones and to reduce the impact of fruit flies on mangos, and reuse and recycle mango waste.

You’ll have the opportunity to connect with others to collaborate with, and also hear about our AgriFood Africa Travel Grants to support new collaborations between the UK and Africa.

Agrifood Africa Travel Grants – Supporting new collaborations

To support new collaborations in this space, you will be able to apply for a grant towards travel to meet your new connections in person. AgriFood Africa Travel Grants will support new collaborations between organisations in the UK and Africa to identify and develop solutions to reduce or valorise waste streams in African AgriFood value chains.

Collaboration Database

To help facilitate introductions, collaborations and accelerate the adoption of innovation for the reduction and reuse of food and crop waste, a Collaboration Database will be issued prior to both webinars.
