Manufacturing Made Smarter (MMS) is one of the Government’s Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund programmes, investing £147m into creating a fully connected, dynamic manufacturing ecosystem inspiring innovation across academia, technology providers and manufacturers.
Who should attend?
If you are a manufacturer aspiring to be more productive, efficient, competitive, resilient through the use of digital technologies, an integrator or a digital technology solution provider or developer who wants to reach a manufacturing audience, then this event series will be of interest to you.
Digital technology solution providers and developers engaged in the series will have early access to express their interest in taking a stand at Innovation Alley, within The Manufacturers inaugural exhibition Smart Factory Expo at Digital Manufacturing Week.

- 10:10 – Paul Hughes from IVC Brunel Healthcare Limited
Paul will set the scene for their innovation story through how they have embraced digital technology to enable continuous improvement in manufacturing
- 10:20 – Sam Briggs from Starling
Starling is a platform for creating and using digital work instructions and managing training in a user friendly way. It simplifies compliance with quality management systems, such as ISO 9001, and drives continuous improvement. We will hear from Sam about how the implementation of their system with IVC Brunnel helped them achieve their goals.
- 10:30 – Chris Iveson, founder and CEO of FourJaw Manufacturing Analytics
Chris will talk about their solutions and next gen innovations for capturing and understanding shop floor data. FourJaw’s Industrial IOT platform uses data from CNC machines to dramatically improve communication from shop floor to top floor. This offers benefits such as improved job costing and scheduling, reduced unplanned machine downtime, and quick diagnosis of quality problems. The overarching goal is to drastically improve productivity levels within our customers’ manufacturing operations, resulting in increased competitiveness on a global stage.
- 10:40 – Beth McEvoy from Queen’s University Belfast
Beth will introduce the eFutures Network, a network to support high-quality and exciting research; facilitate new connections between industry and academia; and address research challenges in a real-world context.
