These competitions aim to develop a diverse and secure hydrogen economy fit for meeting the UK’s ambition of up to 10GW low carbon hydrogen production by 2030.
This recording is to brief potential applicants on strands 1 and 2 of the NZHF, which cover development expenditure (DEVEX) and capital expenditure (CAPEX) support. Strands 1&2 will fund the development and deployment of new low carbon hydrogen production to de-risk investment and reduce lifetime costs.
About the competitions
Strand 1 will provide development expenditure (DEVEX) for front end engineering design (FEED) and post-FEED activities, to develop the pipeline of hydrogen production projects and measurably move them closer to deployment.
Strand 2 will provide capital expenditure (CAPEX) support for hydrogen production projects that do not require revenue support through the Hydrogen Business Model (HBM). Applicants for strand 2 must demonstrate how they will develop a credible project that will contribute to the at-scale production of low-carbon hydrogen by 2025.
Strand 1 Competition: opens Tuesday, 11 April 2023 and closes Wednesday, 31 May 2023
Strand 2 Competition: opens Tuesday, 11 April 2023 and closes Wednesday, 7 June 2023
