The Taskforce united senior leaders from across the energy ecosystem, and beyond, to define the transformational innovation challenges fundamental to building a smarter, more resilient, and affordable net zero energy system.
Full details of the new innovation challenges defined by the Taskforce will be published on Wednesday 13 May 2026 and will remain open for Ofgem SIF applications for the next five years.
The challenges are:
- Industrial and business connection acceleration
- Faster build and maintenance
- Instant use domestic energy devices
- Eliminating energy outages
- Decentralised system balancing
