UK National Robotics Proving Ground Briefing
Have your say and apply for a share of up to £500,000 of funding to develop your vision for the UK’s next generation service robotics facilities.
Following the success of ISCF Robots for a Safer World Challenge with over 100 Innovate UK projects funded and robots deployed under the ocean, into space and helping to decommission nuclear sites, Innovate UK are now expanding their vision for service robotics, how they are tested and proved to be safe and effective.
Webinar recording and slides are now available

UKRI is seeking capital infrastructure funding to develop National Robotics Proving Ground facilities with the aim that these facilities would accelerate the development and adoption of a new generation of service robotics.
Innovate UK and KTN invite you to an online briefing event 14th October 2021 to share details of how to contribute to current scoping activities and the opportunity for organisations to apply for a share of up to £500,000, inclusive of VAT, to develop high level design concepts for a UK National Robotics Proving Ground.
This Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) competition funded by Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) aims to develop:
- initial operating concepts
- system architectures
- specifications
- visualisations
- supporting systems and equipment
- challenge prize competitions
- other novel ideas
The outputs from this high-level short competition in conjunction with community scoping activities, will inform UKRI what type of facilities can be developed with capital infrastructure funding and the scale of the funding required. Subject to approval of future funding, further support would be available from the UKRI infrastructure fund to develop concepts into real world construction and use.
Register today to secure your place, contribute to scoping activities and find out how you could secure funding to develop your vision for the UK’s National Robotics Proving Ground.

Participate in study
In addition, KTN is conducting a scoping study of robotics testing facilities across the UK on behalf of UKRI. This study will seek to establish what facilities already exist as well as establishing the needs of robotics developers and end-users to identify gaps in the market. We are looking to speak to test facilities, robotics developers and end-users of robotics. Participants will also have the opportunity to attend an event at the end of the year where KTN will share the results of this research.
If you would like to take part in this study, please complete this expression of interest form.
