Building connections and celebrating achievements in South Africa with Global Alliance Africa
On 8th March 2023 in Sandton, South Africa, the Global Alliance Africa team hosted an evening Business Mixer as an opportunity for guests to network and identify new collaborative opportunities. A huge thank you to all those who attended and with a special thanks to our singer, the incredible Pulane Rampoana!
The Business Mixer brought together like-minded professionals focused on water, circular economy, digital, renewable energy and sustainability sectors, to name a few. The event was hosted at a modern urban venue, The Galleria, and attendees enjoyed gourmet canapes and refreshments while sharing their innovative ideas and solutions. There was space to network with others who were active players in Corporate South Africa, specifically those who are interested in exploring how to strengthen their own innovation practices and improve value delivery to their clients and customers. They also learnt about the work that Innovate UK KTN has done to assist corporates in achieving these goals, by hearing from these corporates themselves, and were given a overview of Open Innovation and success stories from previous challenge holders.
The attendees included experts from a wide range of organisations, including Professor Linda Godfrey, Science, Technology and Innovation for a Circular Economy (STI4CE), the British Chamber of Business in Southern Africa, DarkMatter, Rand Water, Technology Innovation Agency, Dolphin Coast Landfill Management, and Dignify Africa.
During the event, several speakers addressed topics such as the importance of embedding Circular Economy into strategic business planning, Open Innovation challenges past and present, such as Rand Water’s Water Treatment Residue challenges and the newly launched Kenya Airways Airport Navigation in the Metaverse for Improved Accessibility.
Overall, the mixer was a resounding success, and attendees left feeling inspired to continue their work towards a sustainable future.
