Call for stories: woman innovators from South Africa, Nigeria and Kenya

Building on the success of the Innovate UK Global Alliance Africa #MoreThanAWoman pilot, Phase 2 of the initiative will support the development of a docuseries intended to spotlight grassroot women innovators and promote their entrepreneurial stories. Through storytelling, this docuseries will elevate the voices of successful women innovators, especially those with previously untold stories, and showcase their innovations’ potential for further investment, growth and scalability.

By highlighting these role models, the #MoreThanAWoman initiative aims to demonstrate the power of grassroots women innovators in contributing towards a thriving economy and innovation ecosystem.

As part of the #MoreThanAWoman initiative, the selected cohorts of women innovators will receive business planning and pitch training. From this cohort, selected innovators will then be invited to record a short video showcasing their work with videographers supplied by us. The innovators who are part of the docuseries will also have the opportunity to network with key investors and ecosystem players.

We are looking for inspiring untold stories that bring to light the work of woman innovators across the three countries of focus.

  • South Africa: If you are a woman innovator offering novel and competitive solutions, services, and/or products in the South African market, we want to hear from you! We are looking for inspiring women innovators who are part of, or benefiting, the township economy.
  • Nigeria: If you are a woman innovator offering novel and competitive solutions, services, and/or products in the Nigerian market, we want to hear from you! We are looking for ’untold stories’ from women innovators: i) operating or benefiting underserved communities, and ii) have not had access to support or have not been in the spotlight previously.
  • Kenya: If you are a woman innovator offering novel and competitive solutions, services, and/or products in the Kenyan market, we want to hear from you! We are looking for ’untold stories’ from women innovators from or benefitting informal settlements across the country, and who have typically not had access to support previously.

Tell us your untold story by filling out this short form below.
