Could specialist knowledge help you accelerate business transformation? Discover Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
KTPs and our new Management KTPs could help your business. Current funding competition open until 15th July.
One of the many challenges faced by innovation-focussed organisations is finding the expertise to realise their strategic goals. By definition, innovation means doing something new. And often, that presents a knowledge gap.
Now more than ever, organisations need fresh thinking and deep expertise. And that is what a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) can provide. Part funded by UKRI through Innovate UK, KTP creates a collaborative partnership between a company and an academic department within one of the UK’s world class universities or research institutes. Each project is led by a talented graduate or postgraduate (known as the KTP Associate) who helps to embed knowledge in the company. (Currently there are vacancies for KTP Associates in roles as diverse as Marketing Officer to Project Engineer, Business Development Manager to Data Scientist - all presenting a unique opportunity to apply academic thinking to a real-world challenge. See current vacancies here).
Today, over 800 companies, more than 800 Associates and over 100 universities are engaged in KTP, delivering transformational impact for all the partners involved (12,000 companies have participated in the programme since it started over 40 years ago).
The KTP programme has recently been complemented by a Management KTP, linking companies with Business Schools to deliver projects specifically focused on helping improve management effectiveness and / or deliver strategic business change.
KTN helps deliver the programme via its network of 31 expert Knowledge Transfer Advisers based throughout the UK. They are on hand throughout the project, from scoping the initial project and helping with your application (over 80% are successful) right through to impact analysis once the project completes.
