CyberASAP alumni reach £32M funding milestone
Going into its eighth year, Cyber Security Academic Startup Accelerator Programme (CyberASAP) alumni have raised over £32 million in funding, highlighting the real-world impact of academic cyber research.
Now in its 8th year, the Cyber Security Academic Startup Accelerator Programme (CyberASAP), aimed at supporting the development and commercialisation of cyber security innovations from universities across the UK, has reached another milestone.
Since its inception, the programme has seen remarkable results, establishing over 30 companies, securing acquisitions and partnering with commercial enterprises. A significant milestone has been achieved, with the total funding raised by the alumni now reaching £32.2 million.
The programme accelerates the journey of key academic cyber innovations and creates a pipeline to move great cyber security ideas out of the university lab into the marketplace. Among notable companies that advanced through the programme and achieved commercial maturity offering solutions to global challenges are Mindgard, KETS Quantum, CAPSLOCK, Fact360 and Lupovis, to name but a few.
Peter Garraghan, CEO and Co-Founder of Mindgard said:
This programme is super good at focus… Our mission as scientists is to have impact and CyberASAP really helps carve out time to focus on that.
This is a testament to the programme’s ability to foster groundbreaking cyber innovations, demonstrate the commercial viability of academic research and present these projects to investors.
Paul Wilkes from Osney Capital said:
The UK’s cyber security innovation ecosystem is at an exciting time; the talent and technology is world-class. This opportunity owes much of its thanks to CyberASAP. Talented academics with incredible technology alone is not enough, and the training and preparation the programme offers to help cyber founders commercialise their ideas is an essential ingredient. We at Osney Capital are proud to have a small role in supporting the team in their good work that continues to demonstrate amazing value for the UK economy and resilient digital economies across the globe.
As they continue to scale, the alumni group accomplishments highlight the programme’s role as a crucial bridge between innovation and industry.
The next stage to celebrate these collective achievements and the programme’s highlight, will be the CyberASAP Demo Day held in London on 26 February 2025, showcasing top projects from the Year 8 proof of concept demonstrators, and providing an opportunity to meet some of the alumni.
If you would like to be kept informed about the programme, whether as an investor, industrial supporter or academic participant, please register your interest.
