Highlights from the Global Alliance Africa Kenya Energy Catalyst Competition Information Event
In line with its mandate to provide efficient energy solutions to Africa’s myriad of energy challenges through the deployment of innovative technology and business models, the Global Alliance Africa Project, delivered by Innovate UK KTN, hosted a hybrid informative Energy Catalyst briefing and brokerage event in Kenya in March 2023, to give information about the Energy Catalyst Round 10 funding call.
Hosting the event in Nairobi was a significant step towards promoting sustainable and affordable energy solutions in Kenya. The event was attended by several stakeholders in the energy sector, including George Aluru, the Chairperson of the Electricity Sector Association of Kenya, and the Strathmore Energy Research Centre.
The event provided a platform for participants to discuss and explore innovative energy solutions, share ideas, and network with other stakeholders. George Aluru’s presence added weight to the event as he shared insights into the challenges facing the Kenyan energy sector and highlighted the government’s commitment to developing sustainable energy solutions. He emphasised the need for collaborative efforts between the government, private sector, and other stakeholders to achieve the country’s energy goals.
The Strathmore Energy Research Centre also played a significant role in the event by providing research-based insights into the latest trends and developments in the energy sector. The Centre’s expertise was instrumental in shaping the discussions and providing valuable guidance on how to overcome some of the challenges facing the industry.
Overall, the Energy Catalyst event in Nairobi was a success. The participants left with a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the Kenyan energy sector and a renewed commitment to working together towards a more sustainable and affordable energy future.
