Implementing the UK Life Sciences Strategy

The Medicines Discovery Catapult needs your help to ensure that its strategy will identify and support exciting early stage medical technologies.

The Medicines Discovery Catapult is a national centre of applied research and development expertise which promotes and supports innovative, fast-to-patient drug discovery in the UK through collaborative projects across the community. The Catapult’s mission is to help the UK develop a new wave of world class bio-medical businesses by 2025.

The Catapult is currently developing its strategy to identify and support exciting early stage medical technologies.

They have set up a quick 15 minute on-line survey, in collaboration with BIA and other associations, to capture your personal input to help ensure that strategy is as appropriate as possible to the UK’s research base and strengths. There is the option in the survey to provide more detail via a follow-up phone interview, if you wish.

The survey focuses on three main topics, using a “wisdom of an expert crowd” approach:

1. Assessing the strength of the UK’s basic science and translational medicine research base by disease to allow us to better tailor our strategic investments
2. Mapping promising early drug discovery platforms and enabling technologies that could help create the next wave of high growth companies by 2025
3. Mapping  our collective experience working with the various UK biomedical partners to access clinical expertise, biosamples and pre-clinical proof of concept support
