Jet Zero Council's 2-year delivery plan

Innovate UK KTN worked with the government and Jet Zero Council chairs to define a two year plan published this week for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and zero emission flight (ZEF), which reflect the priorities of the council.
The 2-year plan for 2023 to 2024 sets out what each group and its subgroups will focus on, and where the groups will work together to progress workstreams such as international coordination and addressing aviation’s non-CO2 impacts.
Over the next 2 years, the Sustainable Aviation Fuel group will deliver a SAF mandate consultation, legislation, and support for at least 5 commercial-scale SAF plants to begin construction. The world’s first 100% SAF transatlantic flight is planned for the end of 2023. There will also be support for long-term pricing arrangements and sustainable feedstocks for SAF.
The Zero Emission Flight group is working on hydrogen and electric aviation, and will propose measures and bring forward programmes required to commercialise ZEF, engage with industry to support emerging outcomes from the Hydrogen Capability Network, and work on airport infrastructure and legislation.
For further details of the planned activity, see the full 2-year plan.
