KTN’s Manufacturing team bolstered for 2018

New members join the KTN Manufacturing team

Helping manufacturers to innovate and innovators to manufacture

As we enter 2018 we find UK manufacturing in a state of great change. Change often represents opportunity and the manufacturing activity at KTN has been developing fast to reflect this. As of this month we now have six fantastic staff in the core manufacturing team and we multiply the impact this compact team can generate by working closely with our amazing colleagues across the rest of KTN, and with partners such as the High Value Manufacturing Catapult along (increasingly) with regional stakeholder such as LEPs and the devolved administrations.

The core manufacturing team now consists of:

Collectively we draw upon a great breadth of experience including Jaguar Landrover, P&G, Baxi, HVM Catapult, the Institute for Manufacturing, plus many more including various tier 1 suppliers, manufacturing SMEs, start-ups, etc.

Our remit is to help manufacturers to innovate, and innovators to manufacture. This includes, in particular, helping manufacturers to improve their processes (eg. via digital or additive manufacturing). We do this by connecting – to (a) the right partners and (b) the right funding Рboth Innovate UK but also the full range of other funding and finance. We are driven by the needs of the individual manufacturer and make these connections on an impartial basis, based upon great subject knowledge allied with unparalleled knowledge of the innovation landscape in the UK and abroad. We put these industrial engagements to good use informing national and regional strategies and initiatives eg. Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund, and the Smart Specialisation Hub.

Key programmes within the core manufacturing team at present are 4Manufacturing and the Additive Manufacturing Special Interest Group but we also work closely with all the other teams, eg. chemistry & biotech, food, materials, infrastructure, transport, enabling tech, digital, design & innovation effectiveness, access to funding & finance, and international. Plus of course the various Special Interest Groups, eg. Robotics & AI, Immerse UK, and energy harvesting.
