KTP helps develop world's first graphene-enhanced foam for running shoe
A Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between sports footwear firm inov-8 and graphene experts at the University of Manchester has helped develop the world’s first running shoe to use a graphene-enhanced foam in the sole.
The KTP, co-funded by Innovate UK, helped develop a cushioned foam, called G-FLY™, which features as part of inov-8’s new trail shoe designed for ultramarathon and long-distance runners.
KTN’s Knowledge Transfer Adviser on the project is Dr Andrew Kenney who commented:
“It has been a pleasure to see this project help to deliver an exciting real-world application for graphene to significantly enhance the performance of running shoes. It’s a great example of how KTP can facilitate business collaboration with our Universities to deliver innovation and commercial impact”.
