Shaping the High-Level CR&D Programme for the Foundation Industries

Posted on: 19/08/2019

Register today for KTN’s workshops in September on shaping the future Collaborative R&D programme for the Foundation Industries.

Knowledge Transfer Network and Innovate UK/UK Research and Innovation will be holding two workshops in September to help shape the future collaborative R&D programme for the Foundation Industries (covering metals, ceramics, paper, glass, chemicals and cement). You are invited to attend one of these workshops, either in London (10th September) or Birmingham (11th September). Both workshops will start at 09.30 and finish at 16.00.

These workshops will progress priorities identified from a number of engagements with industry and other stakeholders during the last few months, which aimed at informing Innovate UK’s work plan to support cross-sector collaboration across the Foundation Industries.

At these workshops, delegates will:

  • Suggest key priority areas for CR&D support
  • Build on the cross-sector innovation priority areas already identified
  • Network across the Foundation Industry sectors for potential collaboration and future partnerships
  • Learn about Foundation Industry engagement insights
  • Learn about current available industrial CR&D funding

The UK foundation industries, with a combined turnover estimated at £69bn and representing around 3% of the UK economy (2014), face many common challenges and the opportunity to address these challenges through cross-sector collaboration is compelling, allowing for a convincing case to be made together for government support. Funding and strategic support are necessary to address industry productivity, global competitiveness and to meet sustainability goals.
