Supporting UK semiconductor companies at SEMICON Taiwan 2026

Innovate UK is supporting 13 high-growth potential UK semiconductor companies through its Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) at SEMICON Taiwan 2026, taking place from 2 to 4 September at TaiNEX 1 and 2 in Taipei. The GBIP forms part of a larger UK business delegation and will give participating companies the opportunity to connect directly with Taiwan’s world-leading semiconductor ecosystem, build international relationships and showcase UK innovation on a global stage.

Strengthening UK-Taiwan semiconductor collaboration

Building on UK activity at SEMICON Taiwan in 2023, 2024 and 2025, this year’s delegation reflects continued momentum in UK-Taiwan semiconductor collaboration. Previous missions have highlighted the UK’s strengths in areas such as semiconductor design and IP, compound semiconductors, advanced packaging, photonics, emerging materials and world-class research and innovation.

SEMICON Taiwan is one of the most influential semiconductor events in Asia and a major meeting point for the global chip supply chain. The 2026 event is expected to bring together more than 1,300 exhibitors, over 4,300 booths and more than 100,000 industry professionals from 65 countries, with international forums and showcase areas focused on themes including AI semiconductors, smart manufacturing, quantum technologies, chip startups, advanced packaging and sustainability.

Identifying routes to collaboration

Taiwan sits at the heart of the global semiconductor industry, with a highly developed ecosystem spanning design, manufacturing, packaging, testing, materials and equipment. For UK companies taking part in the GBIP, the programme offers a valuable route into a market where face-to-face engagement and long-term relationship building are central to successful collaboration.

Through the GBIP, delegates will benefit from exhibition space on the UK pavilion, access to an exclusive networking reception, inclusion in a programme of activities coordinated with the British Office Taipei, and profile through an online and printed brochure. The programme is designed to help companies meet potential partners, understand market opportunities and identify routes for future commercial and research collaboration.

Key objectives of the Global Business Innovation Programme:

  • Facilitating connections between UK semiconductor companies and Taiwan’s world-leading semiconductor ecosystem, supporting new commercial, research and innovation partnerships.
  • Showcasing UK strengths in semiconductor design and IP, compound semiconductors, advanced packaging, photonics, emerging materials and enabling technologies to international partners and investors.
  • Supporting UK delegates to understand market opportunities, supply chain priorities and collaboration routes in Taiwan, including through engagement at SEMICON Taiwan 2026 and GBIP networking activities.

We have selected our strongest delegation of high growth potential semiconductor companies for this Global Business Innovation Programme. I am confident that these companies will use this opportunity to secure strong collaboration opportunities with Taiwanese counterparts where their technologies can complement Taiwan’s expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and help continue to position the UK as the partner of choice for Taiwan.

David Campbell-Molloy, Head of North America and Asia, Innovate UK

Innovate UK’s support forms part of its wider role in helping innovative UK businesses grow and scale internationally. By connecting UK companies with global innovation ecosystems, the delegation aims to strengthen collaboration, open doors to new partnerships and support the development of resilient, high-value semiconductor supply chains.

The 13 companies taking part in the GBIP will be part of larger focused UK presence at SEMICON Taiwan 2026, supporting the UK’s ambition to deepen international semiconductor partnerships and promote the strengths of its innovation-led businesses in one of the sector’s most dynamic global markets.
