Sustainable Fuels UK Roadmap sets out clear goals for the UK aviation sector
Sustainable fuels have the potential to play an important role in achieving the UK’s ambition to reduce carbon emissions from transport.
Sustainable Aviation is an industry stakeholder group comprising airports, airlines, manufacturers and air navigation services. The group released their Sustainable Fuels UK Roadmap detailing the potential crucial role such fuels can play in achieving UK’s ambition to reduce carbon emissions from transport.
The roadmap describes how a joint industry and government ambition towards sustainable aviation fuel can deliver the following value by 2030:
- £265m gross added value
- £220m export value
- 4,400 jobs created
- up to 12 operational biorefinery plants
This can only be achieved through robust policy measures such as the proposed revisions in the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) and investment for production plants and R&D funding.
