Visit the Future Flight Challenge at DroneX 2023
The UK Research and Innovation Future Flight Challenge will have a significant presence at DroneX and the Advanced Air Mobility Expo, Europe’s leading events dedicated to UAVs and the future of aviation.
The Future Flight Challenge can be found at Stand C90, where we will be showcasing projects and organisations funded through the Challenge, including:
- Altitude Angel – Skyway
- Sky-Drones – AgiLe Integrated Airspace System (ALIAS) and Project BLUEPRINT
- Skyports – Air Mobility Ecosystem Consortium
- SLiNK-TECH – Project PORTAL
A range of UKRI-funded R&D projects are now demonstrating their technologies and the potential impacts and benefits, with a range of exciting use-cases that support public services and wider scientific research.
Gary Cutts, Future Flight Challenge Director, and Vicki Murdie, Innovation Lead for the Future Flight Challenge, will both be presenting on how the Future Flight Challenge is accelerating development and adoption of new aviation technologies.
In a keynote speech, Karen Bell and Hazel Dempsey from NHS Grampian, will be sharing their approach to delivering national innovation projects, developed through the Future Flight project CAELUS, which is introducing novel technology to support healthcare delivery in Scotland.
Graham Brown and Anne-Lise Scaillierez from ARPAS-UK, the UK’s trade association and professional body focused on the UK drone, UAV, RPAS, UAS community, will also be delivering a keynote speech, sharing their thoughts on key regulatory and industry engagement activities and their market outlook for 2024 and beyond.

The UK Research and Innovation Future Flight Challenge is a £300 million programme, co-funded by government and industry, that is supporting the creation of the aviation ecosystem needed to accelerate the introduction of advanced air mobility (AAM), drones, and electric sub-regional aircraft in the UK.
Delivered by Innovate UK and the Economic and Social Research Council, the programme works with industry, academia, government, and regulators to transform how we connect people, transport goods, and deliver services in a sustainable way that provides socio-economic benefits using new types of air vehicles with novel technologies.
