The STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production) Programme is interested in alternative isotope separation technology, based on magnets/lasers, to provide isotopically tailored materials to reduce radioactive waste for the STEP concept and prototype reactor, with effective benefits relating to cost and scaling. UKAEA (UK Atomic Energy Authority) requires a design solution that will largely involve the assembly and integration of commercial solutions for each of the required elements. Subsequently, we envisage creating a prototype technology demonstrator to test and validate the capabilities and prove that the system (suitably scaled) can provide the necessary quality and throughput of isotopically tailored material to satisfy the needs of STEP Prototype Reactor and future commercial fusion.

A webinar for interested parties will be held on 29th July: contact Hugo Silva on Hugo.Silva@ukaea.uk for more details and to register for a place.
