Horizon Europe Guarantee: EIT KICs 2021
This funding route is to deliver the UK Government’s Horizon Europe guarantee. Specifically it covers retrospective funding for UK partners involved in EIT-KIC (European Institute of Innovation and Technology Knowledge and Innovation Communities) activities in the 2021 calendar year who have been unable to receive EIT funding.
On 29 November, the government announced a new scheme that guarantees funding for successful applicants to the first wave of Horizon Europe grant awards regardless of the outcome of the UK’s efforts to associate to Horizon Europe.
This guarantee covers the costs of EIT-eligible activities delivered by UK participants of the KICs (Knowledge and Innovation Communities) that would otherwise have been covered by grant funding awarded by EIT (European Institute of Innovation and Technology). The guarantee applies retrospectively for EIT-eligible activities where relevant costs have been incurred in calendar year 2021.
A separate grant is also available for EIC (European Innovation Community) 2021 Pathfinder, Transition and Accelerator calls – click here for details.
Applicants will be eligible to register with UKRI for the Horizon Europe guarantee through this route if they are a UK-based organisation which has carried out a project under a KIC 2021 Business Plan and they have incurred relevant costs during the 2021 calendar year.
