Collaboration as a catalyst for positive change in health innovation

Facing a growing disparity between our ageing population and the length of time spent in good health, the UK faces a challenge in helping everyone irrespective of age and background to remain active, productive, independent and socially connected for as long as possible.

The Healthy Lives Community of Practice ran from September 2022 to March 2026, supporting innovators to come to market with products and services that help people look after their own health and wellbeing, to live a fulfilling life for longer.

Established to convene and connect organisations working in healthy ageing, the Community of Practice supported and connected close to 5000 SMEs, research organisations, charities, social enterprises, public sector and policymakers from across the UK.

From March 2025 it transitioned to a broader “Healthy Lives” remit to align with Innovate UK priorities, taking a whole-life course approach to improving health and wellbeing by tackling issues around mental health, dementia, addiction, obesity and nutrition, occupational health, and social care.
