Dalraj Nijjar is no stranger to entrepreneurship. He spent his teenage years working in his family business, then went on to run a small ecommerce company and a startup accelerator. As he puts it, entrepreneurship isn’t just an interest – it’s a driver of his life choices.
He’s now the co-founder of Concrete4Change, an award-winning business that aims to reduce two billion tonnes of CO2 emissions in the concrete industry by 2040.
Concrete4Change has developed technology capable of sequestering and locking significant amounts of CO2 in concrete, helping concrete manufacturers and the construction industry achieve Net Zero.
The technology incorporates a solid-state carrier which transfers CO2 into concrete through a mineralisation process. This strengthens the concrete and ensures that there’s no leakage, even in the event of demolition.
With the proof-of-concept successfully developed, Dalraj is about to embark on more research and development (R&D) to finalise the technology for market entry.
