Developing a psychological tool to detect and eliminate bias in artificial intelligence systems
A self-proclaimed “poet of code”, Elizabeth Chandler is passionate about creating technology that fits a more inclusive, better and brighter future.
As a woman in tech with autism, she never believed she was capable of being an entrepreneur. However, she became inspired after seeing the progression made towards gender equality in the industry.
The Good Robot Company develops solutions to analyse, diagnose and eliminate biases in artificial intelligence and machine learning systems, with a specific focus on ensuring high levels of ethicality in system outputs.
Elizabeth describes it as a “psychological tool for the system”. She wants to dispel the subtle associations, “hidden layers” and assumptions with data to improve systems’ functionality and performance.
She believes that winning the Young Innovators Award will give her the opportunity to experiment with new ideas and inspire others into entrepreneurship:
“I want to build my network with other Young Innovators, improve my capabilities as a founder and be a role model for others who may have neurological challenges like myself. I hope to prove that with the right support and attitude, you can still do amazing things.”
