Tiffany Chiu

Born in Hong Kong, Tiffany Chiu came to the UK 10 years ago. She started JulieMay Lingerie to support people who suffer from sensitive skin, eczema, psoriasis, or contact dermatitis.

The allergy-friendly underwear brand has been developed to avoid triggers of synthetic materials, elastic straps, elastane bands, harmful dyes and harsh chemicals.

Tiffany has made huge strides with the business so far. JulieMay has won the London Prestige Award 2022 for the Best Lingerie Store of the Year and has been featured in the Guardian and the Evening Standard.

Her next significant innovation will be to create a non-metallic underwire for bras that is hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly and robust. As Tiffany explains, all underwires in the market are currently metal, but a number of women suffer from nickel allergies.

Tiffany hopes that her experience on the Young Innovators programme will help her to inspire other Asian entrepreneurs:

“I feel Asian entrepreneurs are underrepresented in many business support programmes and accelerators. If I can build my network and gain knowledge through the Young Innovators Award, I would love to share my experience to help other young Asian people. I want to help them find the courage to step outside of their comfort zone, dream big and support each other.”
