The problem and opportunity
Petscribers tackles the UK’s pet healthcare affordability crisis and the administrative burden of new Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) mandates on vets. Cost is now the number one barrier to care, while manual, fragmented systems leave vets with more admin in less time. The infrastructure to support this legislative shift didn’t exist. Petscribers’ e-prescribing platform cuts prescription-writing time by 80%, reduces fraud, and helps owners access more affordable medication.
The solution and innovation
Built by vets, Petscribers is the UK’s first veterinary e-prescribing platform, combining smart prescription generation, secure digital sharing and medication price comparison. It cuts prescription-writing time by 80%, improves CMA compliance and reduces fraud. With 83 practices in beta and insurers and Practice Management System (PMS) providers exploring integration, we’re creating the digital infrastructure that delivers value for vets, pet owners and pharmacies.
Market and ambition
Petscribers targets the UK’s £6.7bn pet care market. We have 83 practices in beta, 11 insurers and 5 PMS providers under non-disclosure agreement (NDA) exploring integration, and a £4m data partnership letter of intent (LOI). CMA reforms create a major opportunity to scale our SaaS platform and partnerships, becoming the go-to e-prescribing pathway in the UK.
Founder perspective
Petscribers was co-founded by vet Dr Angela Jones, who experienced the challenges both vets and owners face with prescriptions. Petscribers is building the software they wished they’d had in practice: streamlining prescribing, supporting online purchasing, ensuring CMA compliance and modernising an outdated process.
