The problem and opportunity
Lymphoedema (LE) is chronic, painful, and debilitating. Affecting around 250 million people globally, it requires daily, lifelong management. Specialist services are scarce, inconsistent and postcode-dependent. Around 70% of patients do not have their treatment needs met. NHS England spends £178m a year on preventable complications. Compression devices (e.g. PCD’s) are critical aspects to treatment, but existing products are bulky, heavy, uncomfortable and non-portable.
The solution and innovation
LymphMotion is a fashion-forward, travel-friendly, wearable compression MedTech device; combining a miniaturised pneumatic device, ergonomic garment design and app-based treatment tracking. Unlike traditional bulky compression pumps, it is designed for daily use at home, while travelling or on the move. It makes clinically relevant compression more accessible, discreet and data-enabled, supporting better adherence and personalised self-management.
Market and ambition
Auroflo serves people with lymphoedema who need better self-management. With prototype validation, nearly 1,500 patient and clinician engagement, we aim to complete R&D, clinical validation and early market entry within 2 years, before expanding into adjacent markets including venous conditions, sports recovery and wellness.
Founder perspective
I founded Auroflo when I saw the impact LE had on my late uncle after cancer treatment and witnessing the lack of innovation in LE care. With a background in biomedicine, biomaterials and a PhD in medical devices, I’m passionate about designing solutions for unmet medical needs from a human, not just medical perspective.
