The problem and opportunity
Medicines are the most common therapeutic intervention, yet many people struggle to understand what they are taking, why they are taking it, and how to manage medicines safely day to day. This is especially challenging for people living with polypharmacy or multimorbidity, as well as unpaid carers and care teams. Poor health literacy contributes to non-adherence, avoidable side effects, medicine-related harm, and pressure on healthcare services.
The solution and innovation
You’ve seen the information leaflet in a medicine box – now imagine having to coordinate ten of them. Existing medicines information is often generic, difficult to navigate, or disconnected from real-world routines. Unlike outdated medicines information, MedAgent helps users understand, manage and act on medicines guidance in context, with personalised health literacy, clinical safety and usability principles at its core.
Market and ambition
Ask Remedy is a Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS)-assured SaaS company, initially targeting health and care facilities where medicines support is a daily challenge. Early care facilities have agreed to pilot MedAgent. The ambition is to scale across healthcare globally and put MedAgent in the hands of everyone taking medication.
Founder perspective
After witnessing immense pressure on hospital systems, with paramedics queuing in corridors and ambulances stranded outside, Olivia realised that frustration alone was not enough. She left registered nursing to build Ask Remedy, driven by a tenacious commitment to reduce preventable pressure on healthcare services.
