The problem and opportunity
In law, pets are still treated as property, so their future care is rarely planned for and easily lost in crises, such as a house move, illness or bereavement. Millions of pet-owning households are affected, yet there’s no simple, trusted way to record care wishes and ensure the right people can act. The professionals that owners rely on – vets and insurers – have no structured route to help. Good intentions exist; the tools to act on them don’t.
The solution and innovation
PetPact is the first platform to bring legal rigour to pet care planning. It gives owners a clear, structured way to record their pets’ care wishes and essential information, so the right people can act fast in a crisis. The platform is live, and we’re building vet-scannable QR access, a secure document vault, an insurance-backed tier and a temporary-care mode. Our Women in Innovation award is funding validation of the model with vets and insurers.
Market and ambition
We reach pet owners through the professionals they already trust; vets and insurers. This B2B2C model means wider reach at lower acquisition cost. Over three years we aim to make PetPact the UK’s trusted standard for pet care planning, with partnerships across the veterinary and insurance sectors and a clear path to scale.
Founder perspective
Rachel Roche is a private client solicitor and TEP with 12+ years’ experience, a member of the Association of Lifetime Lawyers and author of How to Start a Law Firm (The Law Society). She founded PetPact after seeing how often pets fall through the gaps the law leaves, treated as property when every owner knows they’re family.
