How sustainability hubs and local networks are helping people in Hertfordshire save money

In Three Rivers, a retrofit one-stop-shop gave tailored advice to 100 homeowners, with nearly a quarter taking action. A green skills fair reached 450 young people, while 70 local businesses explored retrofit opportunities. Three neighbourhood groups are greening their homes and gardens. The council also developed a solar proposal for a local school that could save £10,000 on bills and identified seven council buildings for decarbonisation to reduce running costs.

In St Albans, the Greener Together network and eco-hub engaged thousands through events, talks and activities. This sparked initiatives ranging from a composting hub that made use of 500kg of food waste, to a library of things where people can borrow useful items, to a bike donation scheme working with three schools.

Hertfordshire-based business Water Offsets also received support to scale their water-saving technology in partnership with the University of Hyderabad.
