Citizen engagement on Net Zero: Local Authority self-assessment questionnaire
A tool that embeds community insight into local decision-making.
Fairer, healthier, more resilient
Local authorities want to make local places fairer, healthier, and more resilient. Yet this kind of change can only happen if local people are part of the journey.
The Local Authority Self-assessment Questionnaire helps councils assess their current community engagement strategies and pinpoint new ways to strengthen connections with citizens so their voices shape climate and place strategies. It is shaped around five core areas for effective engagement, from strategy and purpose to responsiveness, accountability, inclusion, and resourcing, and is designed to help teams identify strengths, gaps, and next steps. By embedding community insight in every stage of decision-making, councils can build trust, design better policies, and deliver outcomes that more accurately reflect local priorities and values.
