EIT Health is offering between €300 000 and €500 000 in funding to support high-potential European startups developing innovative solutions in biotech, medtech, digital health, AI, and biomarkers or diagnostics. The programme is designed to help companies advance product development, strengthen commercialisation strategies, and prepare for their next stage of fundraising while addressing unmet clinical needs across Europe.
Funded projects must be at the Innovation Maturity Levels (IML) listed below, depending on their industry focus:
- IML ≥ 5 for Biotech (Safety/Toxicity study stage).
- IML≥ 6 in Medtech (Initial clinical PoC)
- IML ≥ 7 for Digital (Market validation)
- IML ≥ 7 for Biomarker / Diagnostics
The THI is intended to support private companies, specifically Micro, Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), with at least 4 full-time equivalent employees. Eligible companies must have closed a minimum total equity investment of €2million within the previous 36 months, with at least one new investor contributing.
UK entities are eligible to directly receive EIT funding, if selected as a part of a granted project and will be treated as all other participants from Horizon Europe participating and associated countries. Further information on this topic can be found on the UK Research and Innovation website.

Eligible companies must have closed a minimum total equity investment of 2 000 000 EUR within the previous 36 months, with at least one new investor contributing.
The company must have 4 full–time–equivalent employees (FTEs) including a full–time CEO.

EIT Health will fund projects running from 01 January 2027 to 31 December 2027.
Projects may request between 300,000 and 500,000 EUR in EIT Health funding. EIT Health will fund a maximum of 50% of the project’s total costs. The company must secure the remaining 50% co-funding from other sources.
