Innovate UK seeks innovative Clean Energy companies to participate in an acceleration programme to support growth by exploring the potential of the Singapore market.
The Global Incubator Programme, organised by Innovate UK, will include two visits to Singapore in October 2026 and March 2027, each a week long.
Innovate UK will fund and organise group flights, group accommodation and group airport transfer fees for successful applicants, who will also undertake an intensive 9 to 12 months, three phased programme. Each business is supported by an Innovate UK Business Growth Specialist or Scale Up Director to help maximise the potential of being part of the programme and beyond. This initiative will be delivered physically and will include virtual activities.
Note: This opportunity is fully funded support and not monetary funding.
Through this Global Incubator Programme, we aim to stimulate new partnerships that enable UK and Singaporean businesses to collaborate and co-develop innovative clean energy solutions. By combining complementary expertise, market access and innovation capabilities, participants will be better positioned to develop technologies that support the transition to net zero and open access to fast-growing clean energy markets.
We are currently inviting applications for up to 8 innovative companies in the Clean Energy sector to join our programme with ATUM Ventures in Singapore.
Key focus areas include, but are not limited to:
Energy Systems
- Renewable energy storage including Long-Duration Energy Storage (LDES)
- Grid tech and digital solutions for increased renewable energy deployment
- Low-cost renewable energy generation and solar technologies including off grid power supply and back-up power
- Modulation of energy demand including energy flex, demand shift, demand reduction, or digital technologies
- Energy technologies supporting the EV transition

In order to be eligible for the Global Incubator Programme, you must be a small or medium sized company based in the UK. We are looking for businesses with the ambition and commitment to scale globally. The programme best suits businesses that already have some traction and sales in the UK that are now looking to innovate their products and services through building global partnerships and collaborations to accelerate their growth and scaling journey. A senior person from the company needs to commit to being involved in all stages of the programme.
The three stages of the programme are as follows:
Prepare
You will be allocated an Innovate UK Business Growth Specialist or Scale Up Director to work with in the UK who will work with you on your strategic action plan for the programme. You will receive an overview of the innovation and sector landscape of the country’s market, a full briefing on the programme and working with the incubator, and support to better present your business and the value proposition.
Pursue
This 4-6 month stage of the programme is about working with the incubator. A typical programme will see a visit to the market at the beginning, providing the opportunity to consider technology and market fit, preliminary customer validation and an introduction to ecosystem players. This will be followed by regular (weekly or fortnightly) virtual sessions with the incubator team, mentors, and experts, to do a deep dive into understanding what it takes to be successful in accessing the market. The final part is a second visit to the market, including a demo day to showcase the achievements of the cohort, continuing to raise the profile and make connections for the businesses involved.
Exploit
You will work with your Innovate UK Business Growth Specialist or Scale Up Director to continue to exploit the programme with the necessary understanding and networks to accelerate your global growth and scaling journey. The team will also be here to support you to build on all the connections, knowledge, and expertise gained. At the end of the programme, an alumni event will be held to celebrate successes and further develop your progress.

Singapore is a leading clean energy and sustainability hub, offering UK SMEs a gateway to Southeast Asia. Through the Singapore Green Plan 2030, the country is investing in renewable energy, hydrogen, energy storage, smart grids, low-carbon transport and sustainable infrastructure, creating strong opportunities for innovative clean energy businesses.
With a business-friendly environment, strong IP protection, English-speaking market and significant public investment in innovation, Singapore is an ideal location for UK companies seeking partnerships, pilots and commercial growth across Asia.
In both the UK and Singapore, innovation and investment in clean energy technologies are becoming increasingly important as nations seek to strengthen energy security, enhance industrial competitiveness, and achieve their net zero ambitions.
The UK was the first major economy to legislate a target of reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, while Singapore has committed significant investment through its Research, Innovation and Enterprise (RIE) 2030 strategy.
The scale and pace of transformation required to decarbonise energy systems, industry, transport and the built environment present a significant global market opportunity.
Investment in clean energy technologies has the potential to create high-value jobs, drive productivity, stimulate economic growth and establish leadership in rapidly expanding global markets. Both the UK and Singapore recognise that innovation will be critical in developing commercially viable solutions that support economic growth while delivering meaningful reductions in carbon emissions.
Clean energy technologies are also central to strengthening resilience and reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels. As countries seek to diversify energy supplies and build more flexible and secure energy systems, there is growing demand for innovations that support renewable energy integration, low-carbon fuels, smart energy networks, energy storage and industrial decarbonisation. These technologies will play a critical role in enabling the transition to a more sustainable and resource-efficient global economy.
The UK has developed significant strengths across the clean energy innovation landscape, whilst at the same time, Singapore is investing strategically in technologies that can decarbonise its power, maritime, industrial and chemicals sectors, creating strong opportunities for international collaboration and commercialisation. With these complementary strengths, we are looking for high-growth potential innovative UK companies developing solutions to accelerate the clean energy transition and support industrial decarbonisation.
