About the opportunity
The UK delegation will support organisations seeking to build relationships and strengthen consortium development for forthcoming Horizon Europe battery calls, including:
- Opportunities focused on next-generation battery concepts and advanced materials
- Battery recycling processes
- Sustainable and competitive cell manufacturing
- Long-duration battery energy storage systems
Innovate UK Business Connect will arrange and cover the cost of return flights and hotel accommodation for successful applicants. The cohort group will be joined by an Innovate UK Business Connect European programmes team member, to provide support in person.

Horizon Europe is the world’s largest collaborative research programme worth £80bn+ over 7 years (from 2021). It is aimed at driving research excellence, fostering innovation and tackling global challenges through collaborative projects and funding opportunities.

Applications are open to UK-based organisations that intend to participate in future Horizon Europe battery projects including:
- Businesses
- Universities
- Research and technology organisations
- Catapults
- Innovation centres
- Other organisations able to demonstrate a clear role in consortium formation and project delivery

- Identify partners for upcoming Horizon Europe projects
- Increase visibility within the European battery ecosystem
- Strengthen future funding applications through early consortium engagement
- Access support before and after the event to maximise impact

- Participation in Battery Innovation Days 2026
- Access to networking and brokerage opportunities
- Support for identifying and engaging potential consortium partners
- Post-event follow-up support to help maintain momentum and progress proposal development

Applicants will be asked to outline the Horizon Europe battery call(s) they are interested in, their anticipated role within a consortium, the types of organisations they are seeking to engage, how attending Battery Innovation Days will strengthen proposal development, and their commitment to developing or participating in a Horizon Europe proposal.

- Registering on relevant partner-search and brokerage platforms
- Participating in pre- and post-event support activities
- Providing information on contacts, collaborations and proposal development outcomes
- Supporting monitoring activities designed to measure the impact of the delegation

Attendees who are BEPA members may wish to also attend the members-only Brokerage Event on 13th November. The cost of the additional hotel night will be covered by the applicant.
